To twitter or to plurk?

Saturday Mr. Man and I went out to do some errands one of which was to get some gas. We went to the cheapest one around, $3.95 for crying out loud, and the place was packed on a Saturday afternoon. When we first pulled up one dude was about to leave but apparently a lady had already made claim to being next in line even though she wasn't very close, whatever we move on. As he is out pumping the gas I'm looking around at the mayhem going on around me. I pull out my phone to start a text then Mr. Man gets back in the car.

"Who are you calling?", he says rather perturbed.

"No one, I'm twittering."

Later on in the evening he is watching the NASCAR race and I spend my time on the computer mainly because the race was not that great. Once a commercial comes on he does a pass by me to aggravate me and get some attention.

Him : "What are you looking at?"

Moi : "Plurking."

Him : "You twitter and you plurk!"

It has been almost a year now since I came across Twitter. I believe I first heard about it from a few different podcasts. The simple explanation for Twitter is that you are answering the question, "What are you doing"? I gave it a try and invited some friends to join but only one did. At first I didn't think much of it and eventually stopped messing around with the place. I'm not sure what brought me back to the place but I began to update more frequently, mostly by sending a text from my phone. It seems most of my updates are from my phone but soon I discovered an add-on for FireFox called TwitterFox that allowed me to update without having to go to the site. I don't really interact with many people on there but I still can't help my twittering.

There are more sites like Twitter which I have learned are Microblogging sites. Plurk is the latest addition to web surfing line up. What I have noticed with Plurk is that it is easier to interact with people but I think that is because there are not as many people on Plurk yet. Plurk tries to differentiate itself from Twitter with karma, you get karma points for "good behavior". So far I like the look of Plurk better.

One that I haven't checked out yet is identi.ca, I'm thinking about joining to try it out.

I get addicted to stuff for a little while then lose interest so I'm not sure how long I'll be twittering or plurking. For now I'm having lots of fun with them both.

Anybody using anything else?
Any thoughts on the microblogging?
