How dare they...The Lost Boys 2?

One of my favorite movies of all time is “The Lost Boys” from way back in 1987. The first time I saw it was at a theatre in Buckhead with my sister Violet and nieces Jennifer and Vanessa, at least I think Nessa was with us. I swear it was a pre-screening or something and we ended up missing the first 15 minutes of the movie because we couldn’t find the place. I ended up seeing it again in the movie theatre at least two more times, one of those was at the Starlight Drive-In for a double feature with the forgettable “Near Dark”. Eventually got in on dvd and bought the soundtrack, on cassette and cd.

I had a major crush on Kiefer Sutherland back in the day; it has waned to a degree over the years but not by much. So when I saw that he was going to be a vampire looking all bad ass I was thrilled. “Maggots Michael, you’re eating maggots.” Damn I loved it! And I still love it. No, it is not a great FILM, but it is a damn good movie and dare I say classic. Maybe not but it is still enjoyable to watch thank you very much.

I wondered if they would ever do a sequel but without Kiefer Sutherland I wasn’t too interested. Yesterday I was checking out my Netflix and the first recommended movie for me was “The Lost Boys 2: The Tribe”, and the only thing I could say was WTF! The only originals from the first movie are Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, and Jamison Newlander. It is apparently straight to dvd which is no surprise. It just amazes me that something like this gets money to get made.
